🌱 So You Bought a Succulent… Now What?

Congratulations!
You’ve officially entered the world of plump leaves, zero drama, and maximum vibes. Succulents are the ultimate plant flex: cute, collectable, and borderline unkillable (we said borderline, okay?).

Whether your new leafy friend is pastel, spiky, fuzzy, or shaped like a rose made of chonk, we’re here to make sure it thrives—and doesn’t silently shrivel on your windowsill.

🌿 Succulent 101: The Basics

Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Some like a bit of morning sun, but mid-day scorch is a no-no.
Water: Less is more. Water only when the soil is bone-dry. No soggy bottoms, please.
Soil: Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Add perlite if you’re a chronic over-waterer. If planting in the ground, be sure to create a mound so the soil drains faster. Amend heavy soils like clay in order to add better drainage (perlite, pumice, etc).
Containers: Drainage holes are your new best friends. If it doesn’t drain, your succulent won’t either.

🌱 Got a Cutting? Here's How to Root It

Let it callous.
Cut the stem or leaf, then let it dry out for 3–7 days. A dry edge = no rot. Trust the process.
Place it on soil if it is a leaf; poke it into the soil if it is a cutting
Don’t bury it! Just gently set it on top of the soil like the royalty it is if it is a leaf prop. If it is a cutting then poke it into the soil (preferably dry).
Light + patience.
Bright, indirect light while it roots. You may cry from excitement when tiny roots or pups appear. That’s normal.
Mist, don’t drench.
Light misting until roots grow, then switch to light watering. Overwatering a rootless cutting is how plant crimes happen. Or skip the misting completely. You'll know when the plant has formed roots when you tug on it and it resists coming out of the soil.

🧼 Succulent Survival Tips

Don’t love it to death. Most succulent casualties are due to kindness (a.k.a. overwatering).
Stretching = not enough light. Give it more sun or a grow light.
Got spots or mush? Might be sunburn or rot. Move to shade and dry it out.
Leaf drop? Could be natural, stress, or overwatering. Let it chill—it’ll bounce back.
Colors not vibrant? Less water / more sun = vibrant colors. Only once it is rooted though!
