Why We Love Them

Iconic star-shaped cactus with 5 (sometimes 4–7) perfectly defined ribs — like nature’s origami

Covered in soft, white flecks (trichomes) that give it a velvety, frosted look

Completely spineless and incredibly sculptural — safe for curious fingers and stylish interiors

Super low maintenance and drought-tolerant

A favorite among collectors, minimalists, and anyone who loves weirdly perfect plants

Astrophytum myriostigma---Bishop’s Cap Cactus description

Less church hat, more celestial object. Five ribs, zero spines, dusted in white flecks like stardust.

What you get: 1 live plant. Pick the exact plant from the numbered photos (plants shown in 2" pots), shipped bare root (no pot, no soil), plus a plant care card, a QR code to our free online plant guide, and a discount code for your next order.

Quick facts

  • Light: bright light with morning or filtered sun. Ease it into full sun or it scorches
  • Water: deeply, only when the soil is bone dry
  • Soil: fast-draining mineral cactus mix with extra pumice or grit
  • Winter: dormant. No water at all
  • Feed: monthly in the growing season, diluted low-nitrogen cactus food
  • Outdoors in USDA Zones 9–11
  • Mature size: about 7 inches
  • Pet friendly

Those white flecks are tufts of trichomes, nature's sequin jacket. Think desert monk with a skincare routine: totally fine if you forget about it for a while.

Fresh out of the box: ships bare root with no soil or pot. Pot into dry, fast-draining cactus mix, wait about a week before the first watering, and ease it back into bright light.

Cold weather: heat packs are required November through February for the live arrival guarantee. Outside those months, if any stop on the route from California to you could drop below 50°F, add a heat pack. Plants are dramatic about frostbite, and honestly, fair.

Live arrival guarantee: if your plant shows up in rough shape, send us a photo within 48 hours of delivery. For an eligible claim we may provide a replacement when available, a refund to the original payment method, a partial refund, store credit, or care and recovery instructions when the issue is cosmetic or reversible. Heat packs are required November through February for the guarantee. Orders over $100 ship UPS or USPS with shipping insurance. Orders usually ship within a few days, Monday through Wednesday, so plants never sit in a carrier warehouse over a weekend (we may make an exception if you're close by, likely to receive it by Saturday, or the weather along the route is mild). Full shipping and refund policies are on our website. Every plant is nursery grown in California.

Shipping
  • Do you offer free shipping?
  • Wild Wonders Oasis will run free shipping offers once orders have reached a certain threshold. You can find this information on the Product Pages, Cart Page, and Checkout Page.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your order, location, selected carrier, and shipping speed. Basically, the plants need a safe little travel plan, and unfortunately the postal goblins do require payment. 📦🌿

We do our best to offer available shipping options at checkout so you can choose what works best for you.
  • Do you offer express shipping?
  • Yes — express shipping options may be available at checkout.

At checkout, you’ll see a variety of postal carriers and shipping speeds to choose from, depending on your location and the items in your order. Pick the option that works best for you and your leafy little travel companions. 🌿

Please note that shipping speeds begin once the carrier receives the package — not while your plant is still being lovingly packed like the tiny botanical celebrity it is.
