Rare Plants Without the Shady Backstory
At Wild Wonders Oasis, we love unusual plants, dramatic leaves, chunky caudices and cacti that look like they may know ancient secrets.
We do not believe a rare plant is worth damaging the habitat that made it rare.
Our Sourcing Commitment
We do not knowingly purchase, propagate or sell unlawfully collected plants.
Our plants are obtained through sources such as:
- Our own propagation
- Seed-grown nursery stock
- Cuttings and divisions from cultivated plants
- Reputable nurseries and growers
- Suppliers that represent their plants as legally and responsibly sourced
We do not intentionally source plants taken illegally from the wild.
What CITES Means
CITES—the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora—regulates international trade in listed species to help ensure that trade is legal, traceable and sustainable.
CITES protection does not automatically prohibit all ownership or nursery propagation. Requirements depend on factors such as the species, its Appendix listing, its origin and whether it crosses an international border.
Plant law: somehow even more complicated than plant taxonomy.
Domestic and International Sales
Wild Wonders Oasis currently ships live plants only within the United States and does not export live plants internationally.
Domestic shipments may still be subject to federal, state or local plant-health restrictions.
We will not knowingly ship a product to a location where the shipment is prohibited. An affected item may be removed from an order and refunded.
If we offer international live-plant shipping in the future, we will require all applicable permits, documentation and inspections before shipment.
Cultivated Plants and Provenance
Whenever reasonably available or legally required, we maintain sourcing or purchasing records for regulated and collectible plants.
For particularly sensitive species, we may request documentation from suppliers or decline to purchase stock when origin information appears questionable.
A mysterious origin story is fun for superheroes. It is less charming for endangered plants.
No Wild-Collection Requests
We do not accept requests to obtain wild-collected plants.
We also encourage customers to avoid sellers who:
- Cannot explain where unusual plants originated
- Advertise freshly collected habitat specimens
- Remove location data to disguise collecting
- Offer suspicious volumes of slow-growing rare plants
- Encourage buyers to bypass permits or inspections
Low prices are not a conservation strategy.
Customer Responsibility
Customers are responsible for following laws that apply to possession, movement, resale or export of purchased plants.
A domestic purchase from Wild Wonders Oasis does not authorize a customer to export a regulated specimen or resell it in violation of applicable law.
Contact the relevant government authority before transporting regulated plants across international borders.
Our Conservation Philosophy
By supporting cultivated plants and responsible propagation, we can:
- Reduce demand for wild-collected specimens
- Preserve natural populations
- Support ethical nurseries and growers
- Make unusual plants available without trashing their native ecosystems
- Help collectors understand why provenance matters
We want the plant community to remain wonderfully weird—not environmentally reckless.

We may not have complete historical provenance for every common cultivated plant, but we will answer honestly based on the records available to us.
