ⓘ Shipping Information
We use USPS or UPS for shipping, providing Door-to-Door service based on the carrier that is selected at checkout. Plants are carefully packaged based on their needs to arrive healthy and ready to join your plant collection. Shipping is typically Monday - Wednesday; we will occasionally hold plants until the next shipping cycle to prevent the plant sitting over the weekend in a carrier facility that is not heated/air conditioned.
❄︎ Cold weather protection
We care about your plants arriving safely even in cold seasons. 🌿
- Heat Pack is not included by default.
- If your local temperature is 50°F (10°C) or lower, we strongly recommend adding one for extra protection.

❧ Drosera capensis---Cape Sundew description
🌱 Beginner-Friendly "Drama-free plant energy"
Looks like it was dipped in glitter. Behaves like a bouncer. Long green leaves lined with ruby tentacles, each tipped in sticky dew that is definitely not water.
What you get: 1 live Cape Sundew in the size you select (Medium or Large), shipped bare root (no pot, no soil), plus a plant care card, a QR code to our free online plant guide, and a discount code for your next order.
Quick facts
- Difficulty: beginner-friendly
- Light: full to partial sun
- Water: distilled, rain or RO only. Keep constantly moist; tray method
- Soil: peat moss with perlite or silica sand. No potting mix, no compost, no fertilizer
- Dormancy: none
- Outdoors in USDA Zones 9–11; indoors anywhere
- Mature size: about 12 inches across
- Pet friendly
- Eats: gnats, fruit flies, the occasional overconfident housefly
Leaves slowly curl around their catch, which is wildly entertaining and only slightly unsettling. Beautiful. Functional. Slightly savage. We're obsessed.
Fresh out of the box: ships bare root with no peat, sphagnum or pot. Pot into rinsed, damp peat or sphagnum using only distilled, RO or rain water, set the pot in a dish of the same water, and ease it back into bright light.
Cold weather: heat packs are required November through February for the live arrival guarantee. Outside those months, if any stop on the route from California to you could drop below 50°F, add a heat pack. Plants are dramatic about frostbite, and honestly, fair.
Live arrival guarantee: if your plant shows up in rough shape, send us a photo within 48 hours of delivery. For an eligible claim we may provide a replacement when available, a refund to the original payment method, a partial refund, store credit, or care and recovery instructions when the issue is cosmetic or reversible. Heat packs are required November through February for the guarantee. Orders over $100 ship UPS or USPS with shipping insurance. Orders usually ship within a few days, Monday through Wednesday, so plants never sit in a carrier warehouse over a weekend (we may make an exception if you're close by, likely to receive it by Saturday, or the weather along the route is mild). Full shipping and refund policies are on our website. Every plant is nursery grown in California.
