5.0 Sarracenia purpurea---Purple Pitcher Plant description

Deep purple insect traps that lure, drown, and digest pests. Natural pest control that looks like it belongs in a haunted garden.

Say hello to the Sarracenia Purpurea, the vampire queen of the carnivorous plant world! With its deep purple pitchers, sinister curves, and appetite for unsuspecting insects, this plant isn't just cool—it's downright badass. If Wednesday Addams started a garden, this would be front and center.

☀️ Thrives in the Spotlight – Loves full sun, and the more light it gets, the darker and more dramatic those purple tones become.

💦 Drinks Like a Swamp Witch – Keep that soil wet and boggy. Sarracenia Purpurea is a wetland native, and dry soil is its mortal enemy. (Rainwater or distilled water only—tap water gives it the ick.)

Bug Buffet, Party of One – Those eerie little pitchers? They're insect traps, luring in gnats, flies, and other pests with sweet nectar and then digesting them.

Perfect for bog gardens, creepy cute terrariums, or anyone who wants a plant with both style and attitude.

🔹 Care Tips

  • Loves the sun—find it a bright, sunny spot.
  • Keep the soil moist and boggy. Use only distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater. Top-down watering 2–4 times a week.
  • Let it handle the insect situation. If grown indoors, feed every 2–3 weeks.
  • Temperature range: 50–90°F.

Shipping

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your order, location, selected carrier, and shipping speed. Basically, the plants need a safe little travel plan, and unfortunately the postal goblins do require payment. 📦🌿

We do our best to offer available shipping options at checkout so you can choose what works best for you.
  • Do you offer express shipping?
  • Yes — express shipping options may be available at checkout.

At checkout, you’ll see a variety of postal carriers and shipping speeds to choose from, depending on your location and the items in your order. Pick the option that works best for you and your leafy little travel companions. 🌿

Please note that shipping speeds begin once the carrier receives the package — not while your plant is still being lovingly packed like the tiny botanical celebrity it is.
