An Ed Reed selection first offered through Juniper Level Botanic Garden. Nursery propagated, never wild-collected: wild flytraps grow only in a narrow strip of the coastal Carolinas and are increasingly rare. Sharp teeth. Deep red bite. Zero chill.

Fresh out of the box: give it 1–2 weeks to settle. A droopy leaf or a slow week is normal travel drama, not a death sentence.

Cold weather: heat packs are required November through February for the live arrival guarantee. Outside those months, if any stop on the route from California to you could drop below 50°F, add a heat pack. Plants are dramatic about frostbite, and honestly, fair.

Live arrival guarantee: if your plant shows up in rough shape, send us a photo within 48 hours of delivery. For an eligible claim we may provide a replacement when available, a refund to the original payment method, a partial refund, store credit, or care and recovery instructions when the issue is cosmetic or reversible. Heat packs are required November through February for the guarantee. Orders over $100 ship UPS or USPS with shipping insurance. Orders usually ship within a few days, Monday through Wednesday, so plants never sit in a carrier warehouse over a weekend (we may make an exception if you're close by, likely to receive it by Saturday, or the weather along the route is mild). Water:

Like all Venus Flytraps, Red Piranha naturally experiences winter dormancy and needs this annual rest period to stay healthy long-term. Once established, it tolerates brief temperature swings from roughly 20°F to 90°F, but sustained hard freezes in a container can damage the rhizome — protect from prolonged deep cold.
